The cover
Undercover added removable stickers to a vintage pin-up photograph. In his account reproduced by IORR, Hubert Kretzschmar traces the image to stereo slides bought from a used-camera dealer in Manhattan. He said he had prints made with exaggerated colours, but could not identify the original photographer.

What critics said
Robert Christgau’s Consumer Guide sharply criticises Undercover’s murky mix and weak songs. He still recognises Keith Richards’s guitar, Charlie Watts’s playing and flashes of verbal precision, but those strengths cannot rescue the album for him.
